Responsible to: Learning Manager

We are seeking a Learning Mentor to join our team to help students overcome barriers to learning in order to enhance individual achievement, raise aspirations and promote effective participation in every aspect of College life.   With a particular focus on Year 6 to Year 7 transition, you will contribute to the identification of barriers to learning for individual students and provide them with a range of support to overcome them and help ease their transition.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Establish and develop effective one-to-one mentoring and other supportive relationships with students
  • Develop, agree and implement a time-bound action plan with students and those involved with them based on a comprehensive assessment of their strengths and needs
  • Facilitate access to specialist support services in liaison with the College pastoral team
  • Assist students in making a successful transfer between educational establishments and transition at key stages of their learning
  • Assist in the identification of early signs of disengagement and contribute to specific interventions to encourage re-engagement
  • Establish a relationship of trust with the student through one to one mentoring or group work.
