Meadow Park School is a pupil referral unit situated in the borough of Knowsley on Merseyside. We provide a quality educational experience for children who have or are experiencing difficulties in a mainstream setting due to medical, social, emotional or behavioural needs.

We support young people to develop alternative strategies to improve their resilience and confidence through a personalised curriculum, delivered by dedicated, experienced and qualified staff.

We are looking to appoint a Learning Mentor at this exciting time in the school’s life. If successful you will develop and provide a complementary service to teachers and support staff in school, addressing the needs of children who need help to overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside the school, in order to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will act as operational lead for Safeguarding within the school.

The position of Learning Mentor has become available due to retirement of the current postholder and the role presents a unique opportunity to bring significant impact to the lives of our pupils and their learning experience at Meadow Park School. The importance of mentoring at Meadow Park is felt by every pupil in school and we are keen to find the right person to further develop this key part of our offering.

The successful candidate will:

  • encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage in a range of learning activities
  • develop an individual action plan for each pupil needing help to overcome barriers to learning and work with groups and/or individuals to achieve the goals defined in the action plans
  • manage and resolve any problems or situations that arise with pupils, seeking advice where there are no recognised procedures or precedents
  • establish a clear framework for pupil behaviour
  • anticipate and manage pupil behaviour constructively and promote self-control and independence, in line with established school policy
  •  meet with parents/carers to gain support for their child’s individual action plan

For an informal and confidential discussion, or to arrange a tour of the school, please contact Nathan Colman, School Business Manager on 0151 477 8102.
