Tes is supporting the appointment of a Learning Mentor for a secondary school based in West Sussex.

Learning Mentors play a critical role in supporting students of all abilities with issues such as poor attendance, lack of self-confidence, self-esteem or motivation. We a seeking an empathetic and enthusiastic individual to work on a one-to-one and small group basis with specific students, to enable them to develop coping strategies, enhance aspiration and motivation, and encourage re-engagement in learning.

Overall Responsibilities

  • To carry out planned intervention with students, the main aim being to identify and address barriers to learning and engagement through supportive one-to-one relationships and sometimes small group work
  • To help students develop coping strategies, enhance their motivation, raise their aspirations and encourage them to re-engage in learning
