Job overview

Tower Hamlets College and Hackney Community College are merging on 1 August 2016 to create a dynamic and confident FE provider serving east and central London. Both colleges are Ofsted grade 2 and the combined college will be financially secure with total income in excess of £40m. Serving diverse London boroughs the merged College (which is currently consulting on an overarching new Group name) is uniquely located in the heart of an exciting region. We have built strong relationships with significant organisations in Canary Wharf and on the Olympic Park; in Tech City - the fastest-growing tech-hub in Europe - and within the creative environment of Shoreditch and Hoxton. We are passionate about developing further partnerships and collaborations which create opportunities for local people to get the skills, qualifications and experience they need to succeed in the dynamic sectors across the area.

Since September 2014 the college has been offering a full-time programme for students at KS4 who have recently arrived to the UK. All student’s access differentiated KS4 subjects with a large ESOL input and they require support and supervision in class and also at lunch times and break times.

In May 2016, the college expanded its 14-16 provision to include vulnerable and disengaged students who are at risk of exclusion from their mainstream school. You will either be required to assist the teacher within the classroom or support students on a 1 to 1 basis.
