Job overview

Joining us as a Senior Learning Resources Centre Assistant, you will help to deliver a high quality LRC service which supports and facilitates learning and achievement, in line with college objectives, and provide all LRCs with proactive and responsive support and administration.

You will work closely with the Librarians to support/supervise the day-to-day operation of the LRCs and offer a high standard of customer service and a proactive, responsive approach to LRC users and assist the Librarians in developing a responsive, effective, and efficient team environment, acting as a mentor to the LRC Assistants and maintaining positive working relationships.

Responsibilities will include staffing and supervising LRC desks, troubleshooting queries from the LRC team, co-ordinating timetables and delegating tasks to meet service needs, deputising for librarians. Working closely with the Librarians in the active promotion of wider LRC services and develop the LRCs in accordance with best practice in the field, responding proactively to College KPls. Working closely with the Librarians on the development, design and delivery of Induction and Information/Digital Literacy initiatives.


Role duties

  • Maintaining, monitoring, and finalising end of year LRC budgets through the college finance system.
  • Balancing and banking monies taken in LRCs.
  • Producing termly sales and profit & loss report for reconciliation of stock check.
  • Developing, maintaining, updating and collating spreadsheets of statistical KPI records and graphic data representation of LRC provision/activities.
  • Assisting in Collection Management as required. Providing comprehensive assistive support to users as required, advising with regards to assistive technologies.
  • Developing and maintaining appropriate LRC content on the College VLE in consultation with the Librarians
  • Ordering stationery, consumables and equipment, and keeping an inventory of equipment and resources


Qualifications

With excellent communication and customer services skills, you will hold:

  • A good standard of education including Maths and English Grade A* - C (or equivalent) or Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy is essential.
  • Level2 IT qualification (or a willingness to work towards) is essential
  • Level3Awardin Education and Training (formerly PTLLS or equivalent) (or a willingness to work towards) is essential
  • Minimum 12 months library experience is essential
  • High quality IT skills are essential
  • Experience of using and supporting e-resources is desirable
  • Experience of working in Administration is essential
  • Knowledge of college information skills is desirable
  • Experience of working with 16-19 year olds to facilitate learning is desirable
  • Supervisory experience is desirable


This role is 23 hours per week, Term Time Only plus 1 week. Until 30th October 2023.
