An exciting opportunity has arisen at Lyndhurst School. We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Learning Support Assistant to support one of our pupils 1-1. An experienced practitioner, you would be working with a fantastic team reporting directly to the Head of Learning Support. This role is temporary for 12 hours a week, Monday to Thursday mornings, to be reviewed on a termly basis. There is a possibility that this role may become a full time position in the future.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Supporting the pupil
- To develop an understanding of the specific needs of the pupil
- Develop a positive and supportive relationship with parents
- To aid the pupil to learn as effectively as possible in group situations and individually, inside and outside the classroom
- Supervise and provide particular support for the pupil
- Assist with the implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans
- Take a committed approach to improve children’s learning
- Maintain challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
- Provide feedback on progress and achievement
- Attending to the pupil’s personal and health needs
- Developing appropriate resources to support the pupil
Supporting the teacher
- Have a sound knowledge of the class
- Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support the pupil to achieve personal and class objectives
- Attend planning meetings as required
- Monitor pupil’s progress
Supporting the Curriculum
- Undertake structured and agreed learning activities, adjusting activities according to pupil responses
- Support the use of ICT in learning activities, developing pupil’s competence and independence in its use
- Prepare, maintain and use equipment/resources required to meet the lesson plans
Supporting the School
- To participate in relevant professional development
- Attend to minor first aid needs of pupils
- To be aware of and follow school policy and procedure
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise tact as needed
- Perform any other reasonable duties as specified by your line manager
