We are seeking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work 26.5 hours per week during term time to support a Reception Year child who uses a wheelchair due to a spinal injury and needs constant 1:1 support. The role is shared with another LSA who is employed for 23.5 hours and there will be some cross over of duties.
The LSA's support will enable the child to access all areas of the school curriculum and enhance pupil achievement, as well as assisting in a range of support activities in relation to the child's needs such as safeguarding, care, health and wellbeing to ensure a safe and secure environment. Duties include personal care, safe moving and handling, assisting and supporting physical exercise through play or via the use of specialist equipment. Full training and support will be provided.
Ideal candidates will have experience of working within an educational or care setting with children or adults, have a good standard of Maths and English, a willingness to learn the skills required to assist the child with everyday needs and a calm and positive approach.
The post is as a result of funding from Surrey County Council and therefore, can only be offered on a fixed term contract starting as soon as possible until the end of the Academic Year as this is the period of time funding has been provided for.
