Learning Support Assistant

Harris City Academy Crystal Palace is a mixed Academy for 1,300 students aged 11-18. The academy has three consecutive outstanding judgments by Ofsted, with the most recent inspection in 2014 finding the academy to be outstanding in every aspect. This thriving academy also has a large sixth form with over 300 students. It is one of the most oversubscribed comprehensive schools in the country and in the top 5% for performance.  

We are seeking an enthusiastic learning support assistant to join our innovative team.

What we are looking for:

• Experience of supporting learning, ideally in a similar role in a school, including basic knowledge of SEND, learning barriers and working with young people with challenging behaviour
• Excellent communication skills, whether with staff, parents, students or the wider community
• Someone able to establish good relationships with students, acting as a role model and responding appropriately to individual needs
• An encouraging person, helping students to interact with others, engage in activities led by the teacher and act independently
• Someone with a desire to make a difference to the lives of young people

Required hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, 8.00am – 4.00pm, with 30 minutes for lunch. This position is term time only.
