We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to work in our FOCUS provision. The aim of the provision is to support them to develop the skills and abilities they need to take advantage of the wider opportunities involved in the school and eventually across mainstream provision and society.

We are looking for:

• Qualifications to level 2 in maths and English.

• Experience of working with young people

• A willingness to learn and work as a key member of a small team

• A person with resilience and a good sense of humour

This is an exciting time to join the school where we are committed to professional development for all; it is an opportunity to join our hard working and dedicated team of staff who thrive in an atmosphere of professionalism and team work.

Job details and an application form can be downloaded via the school website: www.newhavenschool.co.uk

Applications (CVs are not acceptable) are to be sent to recruitment@newhaven.greenwich.sch.uk

We welcome and encourage visits to the school by prior arrangement.

Newhaven is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced with Barred List check through the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) plus additional pre-employment checks.

Newhaven Pupil Referral Unit is a high performing and complex alternative provision set in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. We believe in providing opportunities for students to become independent and well-rounded individuals ready to embrace all that life has to offer, removing the barriers to learning that have hindered their progress up to now.

At Newhaven we have an extremely effective team of dedicated staff to support the progress of every child, including specialist LSAs and HLTAs, Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and CAMHS link workers. Our most recent Ofsted report notes that Newhaven pupils “benefit from a committed team of professionals who enjoy coming to work. This is because they feel valued and are supported to work together to improve pupils’ outcomes”.

Newhaven has a positive "can do" attitude, believing that the sky is the limit, and we think creatively and innovatively to meet the needs of our learners and school community. Our examination results and student destinations are a testament to this.
