Description St Francis Xavier's College, Hamilton is seeking a temporary part-time (12 hrs per week) Learning Support Assistant to join the College community between 6 June to 20 December 2022.

Each member of the teaching staff brings with them skills and expertise in their delivery of the Stage 6 curriculum and the requirements of the Higher School Certificate, while also modelling faith in action by nurturing positive relationships between one another.
Position Requirements The Learning Support Assistant works in collaboration with the Learning Support Teachers to support students with additional needs, supporting the development of inclusive learning environments and providing assistance to teachers to meet the specific learning needs of students with additional needs.

Essential Criteria • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school

• Demonstrated appropriate experience and/or Certificate III in Special Education

• High level of communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students and other teachers with the ability to work collaboratively with school staff and members of the wider community

• Demonstrated experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

• Demonstrated experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviours and ability to follow plans and procedures put in place for these students

• Understanding of non-violent crisis intervention strategies for school students

• Highly developed computer skills and an ability to use technology for education support

• Demonstrated ability to contribute as a member of a team and assist in the planning, preparation and implementation of personalised plans and programs to enhance student support.

St Francis Xavier’s College is a mixed, non-selective, Roman Catholic, independent secondary school in New South Wales, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school is situated in Hamilton, and has over 1,000 students on record.

St Francis Xavier’s College was founded in 1985 as a school to serve Catholic students in the local area.
