Job overview

The Green Room Kingsley, or GRK as it is known, is an independent farm based school providing a second chance at education for up to 15 young people aged 11-18, who have, for various reasons, found it difficult to learn in mainstream education. They all have Education Health Care Plans indicating a variety of needs, including support for their ASD, ADHD, ODD, PDA and/or emotional and behavioural difficulties. We provide a broad, lively, and stimulating curriculum for our pupils ranging from English, Maths, Science and other academic subjects to vocational studies including BTEC Land Based Studies and Multi-Skills. We offer a wide variety of sport, PHSE and farm based activities including looking after our many animals. Our pupils want to be at GRK, it is not a place they are ‘sent’. This is crucial to the culture and success of the school.

Do to the nature of our pupils this role would suit an LSA who has worked in primary or secondary education, or someone from a non-educational field - we have a builder, a zoo-keeper and other non-education based professionals working with us to excellent effect, so if you’ve never worked in a school before and have a burning desire to - we’d like to hear from you.  We are looking for someone who really wants to make a difference to young people’s lives; someone who wants to help them reach their potential by giving them a second chance; someone who is humble yet confident, enthusiastic yet understands the need for boundaries, and is energetic yet calm. Can you be an extraordinary role model to pupils and staff alike? We have a phrase for it - we want someone who’ll make a dent in the universe?

Take a look at our website www.thegreenroomschool.com to learn more about our schools and to view the job description. If this is for you, send us your CV and a covering letter explaining why.

This is a full-time position to start in January 2019. Salary will be commensurate with experience and expertise.

We value diversity and are committed to safeguarding and promoting child welfare. The successful candidate will be subject to DBS and any other relevant employment checks.
