Inspired Learning Group (ILG) a growing group of independent preparatory schools and nurseries are looking to recruit an experienced Early Years Practitioner at Westbury House Preparatory School and Nursery, based in New Malden, London.
Westbury House is a small preparatory school and nursery that promotes a caring and nurturing family atmosphere for all. We recognise children learn best when they are actively engaged in meaningful experiences; so, our planning is flexible to enable us to meet the needs and interests of individual children.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity working 40 hours per week in a lovely setting which focuses on children aged between 2-5.
What the role involves:
• Supporting a Year 3 child across the curriculum
• Helping to develop programmes of learning activities and
adapting appropriate materials
• Motivating and encouraging the pupil
• Attending meetings and reviews
• Enthusiasm, Imagination, Energy, Adaptability, Patience,
Responsibility
• Helping with school events, trips and activities
• Support teachers in preparation and production of
classroom materials for this child
• Assist teachers with maintaining student records
• Collect and receipt money from students for trips and
departmental purchases
• Ability to work in a systematic, orderly and organised manner without supervision.
• Take pride in work, with an eye to accuracy and detail
• Flexible approach to working hours
• Ability to relate well to children and adults
• Commitment to equal opportunities and diversity practice
• Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
• Observation and evaluation skills
• Understanding monitoring and tracking student progress
• Understanding the SEND code of practice
• How to support students who have SEND effectively
• Developing effective intervention programmes
• Developing social aspects of learning interventions
• Training based on the specialist skills, e.g. in learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory or physical difficulties; EAL; support to gifted and talented pupils; supporting curriculum areas.
• Providing an inclusive learning climate for the pupil
• Secure understanding of SEN conditions and interventions/strategies
• Secure knowledge of child development and developmental delays
We’re looking for:
- Experience working with children in a classroom environment
- Good GCSE results (A-C in English and Maths preferred)
- Preferable but not essential SEN knowledge and experience
- An organised, supportive personality.
- Excellent communication skills and able to work effectively in a team
- A sense of humour, common sense and a "can do" attitude
- Strong attention to detail.
