Learning Support Assistant

Smart Teachers is recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join an outstanding independent special needs school in Merton, South West London. This full time, permanent Learning Support Assistant role is for a September 2020 start. There are also temporary roles available. The successful Learning Support Assistant will work with primary and secondary students, aged between 3 and 19.  The school supports students through a language-based curriculum employing experienced teachers, teaching assistants and therapists. 

The role

• Learning Support Assistant for children with Speech, Language and Communication needs

• Working with EY, primary or secondary aged students

• Either 1:1 supporting a specific child, or working within small groups

• General in-class support also involved

• Prior experience supporting students with speech and language difficulties essential

• School hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm (term time only) 

• Permanent contract 

• Salary from £14,000 to £16,000pa depending on experience

This is an outstanding independent SEN school catering for students with a speech, language and communication impairment. The children are aged between 3 and 19. They have a holistic tailored curriculum with a focus on removing barriers to learning and an excellent leadership team. Staff are part of a very supportive team environment. This school is located next to a mainline station and parking is also available on-site. 

Requirements

To be considered for the Learning Support Assistant position, you will:

• Experience working with children or adults with special needs 

• SEN qualifications in Autism are desirable but not essential

• Ability to support in a sometimes-challenging environment 

• Have strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills

• Eligible to work in the UK (must have valid visa)

• Overseas trained applicants are welcome to apply 

• Recent classroom-based references and valid DBS/police checks
