We have a fantastic opportunity at our Knockloughrim Campus for an experienced and interactive Learning Support Assistant on a full time (37.5 hours per week), permanent basis. 


Key responsibilities:

  • To support learning and teaching across the curriculum, particularly for pupils with additional support needs 
  • To complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. This may involve joint-planning with teachers, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals / groups or short term for whole classes across all year groups in the school (Years 3-13)
  • Deliver specific time limited interventions in small groups or 1:1 
  • Monitor pupils progress and assessing, recording and reporting on pupils' achievement, progress and development 
  • To provide learning support with the context of our Self-Directed Learning Philosophy 
  • Provide pupils with the level and type of support specified by the teacher or LSCO
  • Assess, manage and deliver learning support using knowledge and specialist skills 
  • To work with pupils, understanding how to motivate and encourage them to achieve and develop through the development of their attributes, skills and knowledge 


You will:

  • Have prior experience as a Learning Support Assistant or worked within a similar role 
  • Experience of working with children of relevant age in a learning environment 
  • Knowledge of SEN (Special Educational Needs) 
  • Have GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above / equivalent 
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team and understand classroom roles and responsibilities 
  • Ensure high standards are maintained, progressed and promoted in all areas of work 
  • To set an example of positive personal integrity and professionalism, with positive, appropriate and effective communications and relationships at all levels 
  • Uphold and promulgate the OneSchool Global UK ethos within all areas of responsibility

OneSchool Global UK Knockloughrim Campus has been established since 1995 and moved to the current location in September 2010 having been previously located at Hydepark Road, Newtownabbey where it was known as Hydepark Study Centre. It has pursued a programme of continual development and improvement, resulting in a well-proven centre of educational achievement. It has a strongly Christian ethos.

As a registered school and exam centre, it gives students the opportunity to fulfil their potential with a high standard of learning being reflected in nationally accredited exam results. Special educational needs are specifically provided for by specialist staff using accepted therapies.
