We are a rapidly and successfully establishing school in the Royal Borough of Greenwich which meets the needs of young people with diagnoses of Autism and mental health needs. Our school is a happy place where nurture and the development of students’ life and personal skills have equal status with their academic outcomes. Our students tell us they value the school and show this by attending more than they ever have. Feedback from parents is glowing with high levels of engagement with our parental work. Staff enjoy the difference they make and the small class sizes with extensive professional support.

We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant with a Sports Focus. You will ideally have experience in schools and will definitely have training as a sports instructor. You will also ideally have experience with high functioning youngsters on the spectrum but more importantly will be an outstanding individual with a can do attitude, a sense of humour and the resilience to work with our challenging cohort. You will also be excited by the prospect of working in a dynamic, forward looking environment where risks are encouraged in order to achieve results. The staff at King’s Park are determined to give our students the best opportunities possible to become successful, responsible citizens with bright futures. We opened in a refitted building, with state of the art ICT and other facilities, in May 2016 and currently have 48 students on roll in years 7-14. By September we will have up to 55 students as our first cohort graduates.

As a Sports Coach you will be responsible for planning, preparing and delivery of a high quality PE and sport provision. This will take up about a third of your week. For the rest of the week, you will operate as an LSA, supporting in a range of classes. All candidates must be comfortable with delivering a variety of different sports and may seek to develop into a PE Specialist.

We are looking for:

· Qualifications to level 2 in maths and English

· A PE Instructor or equivalent qualification

· A commitment to providing the best education possible

· Experience of working with young people possibly with ASD

· A positive attitude and able to build self-confidence within students

· A willingness to learn and work as a key member of a small team

Details of the new provision are detailed in the overview in the ‘Vacancies’ section on our website.

If you feel you have something to offer and are excited at the prospect of working with us then please take a look at our application details and how to apply on Vacancies (www.newhavenschool.co.uk) and also look for King’s Park in the ‘school’ drop down menu.

Please phone Jon Kelly (Head of Campus) if you wish to visit or discuss further details about the post.

Applications (CVs are not acceptable) are to be sent to recruitment@newhaven.greenwich.sch.uk

Newhaven is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Appointments will be subject to references and enhanced DBS checks and will be exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
