Learning Support Assistant SEN

A fantastic permanent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Learning Support Assistant to start in October 2020 at a friendly at a vibrant, centrally based London college. You will be working with young adults on mainstream or Entry Level programmes helping support students with SEND.  These learners will have a range of special needs including ASD, MLD, SEMH, PMLD and physical disabilities, in addition to difficulties with English and maths. You will be reporting to the Director of Inclusion and Opportunity.

This is a busy and varied role, with no two days being the same. Many of our learners have come from local comprehensives and specials schools and will have external services supporting them or their families.  You will have the opportunity to contribute to young people’s progress at all levels, including their social, emotional and language development.

What the Sixth Form are looking for

• A committed and passionate specialist LSA, who has experience of working with young people with Special Educational Needs on courses from Entry Level to Level Three.

• An individual who is looking to fully integrate themselves into the department and shares our commitment to raising standards and improving the life chances of vulnerable young people.

• An LSA with a good literacy and numeracy skills, with a proven record of working collaboratively with teaching staff and specialists to raise standards, particularly with SEN learners.

• An LSA who fully understands the importance of supporting learning and communication through differentiation and through using gesture, sign and modified language.

• Someone with a good sense of humour, who is a good team player
