The Grove school is a brand new special school for young people with autism opening in September 2018 in Haringey. Part of the Heartlands Community Trust, The Grove will meet the increasing demand for special school places within the borough and work in partnership with the LA and local special schools. We already have accreditation from the NAS and our ambition is to become a centre of excellence for autism both locally and beyond.

We wish to appoint for September 2018 or soon after, two Learning Support Assistants who will join our expanding team.  This team will develop, along with student numbers over four years, opening with 42 students on roll until we capacity at 104 students by 2021. We open on a split site for the first year working with our partner schools, Heartlands High School and St Mary’s Primary School and transferring to our newly refurbished site near Turnpike Lane N17 6AR in September 2019.

We are looking for people who have an outstanding track record and ready for an exciting new challenge. 

This is a rare opportunity to be involved in the founding of this new school; as a member of our team, you will be part of the development and planning process and work alongside class teachers to deliver a personalised curriculum to our students. 

The successful candidate will make an important contribution to the school ethos. Their role will include supporting students on a daily basis, supporting small learning groups, working with staff to ensure an inclusive approach and working collaboratively to support the learning needs of students on the autistic spectrum.

The successful candidate will have:

● Some experience of working with students with additional needs including autism

● A flexible and proactive approach to supporting students

● Ability to communicate well with students, teachers and adults

● Completion, or the readiness to complete, the LSA induction programme

● Some understanding of the issues relating to child development and inclusion

● A commitment to safeguarding children.

Support and development:

At Heartlands, we use School IP to track and support training and ongoing CPD. Depending on your need and level of experience, you will be placed on a training pathway.

The CPD plan is released in September each year and includes a range of internal training sessions before and after school as well as on inset days.
