Job overview

We are recruiting for full-time and part-time Learning Support Assistants to join our Transitions team based at our Roundhouse Campus in Derby.  If you’re positive, motivated, ready to learn new skills and be a role model we'd love to hear from you!

Our students are at the heart of our person-centred approach, and we support all our staff to develop and embed outstanding skills and knowledge.  We offer a huge range of support to students across our college on all college sites. We pride ourselves in delivering ‘Ofsted Outstanding’ inclusion and support.

Our Learning Support Assistants support students working across all academic levels from Entry Level 3 to Level 4 and above, who will access support for a range of inclusion needs such as dyslexia, autism, and mental health difficulties.  Our focus is always to enable students to develop resilience and access teaching as independently as possible.

We value the ability to build good working relationships, the ability to foster confidence and a ‘can do’ attitudes; to support and challenge students to excel. We also value practical problem solving and using your initiative in trying to make our students world a little better every day.

You will be keen to work with students supporting them to access all elements of the curriculum. You will be supported to complete relevant qualifications to support your role and development here at Derby College Group. This could successfully progress into HTLA or specialist teaching and support roles too.  Other examples of benefits you’ll have access to as a Derby College employee include access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, CPD opportunities, discounts at selected retailers, free eyecare tests and discounted rail travel.

If this role sounds interesting, the full job description and application link can be found below.  If you have any questions and/or would like an informal chat, please contact Diane via email – diane.simnett-rhodes@derby-college.ac.uk.
