ABOUT THE ARBOR SCHOOL

The Arbor School is a growing school situated in Al Furjan, a new and developing area near the Dubai Marina, in the UAE.

The school opened in September 2018 and currently has over 800 children on the register. The school offers the National Curriculum for England with a focus on Ecoliteracy, Sustainability and Environmental Justice which are incorporated into the curriculum across all year groups.

The school has a diverse student body with children from over 50 countries, creating a truly International environment.

An Arbor Support Assistant has the opportunity to be more than an ordinary Support Assistant, as they will develop their professional skills and knowledge in an extraordinary learning environment. The Arbor Support Assistant is committed to the ethos of the school, instilling an understanding of the interconnectedness of our world through the concepts of ecoliteracy, a passion for the prudent use of resources in our drive towards sustainable lifestyles, and a profound sense of justice for all that inhabit our earthly household. The education of an Arbor student does not stop at the classroom door, and therefore an Arbor employee values the learning experiences that occur in the learning garden, with our animals, inside the greenhouse, inside the biodomes or within the reflection garden, as much as they value a student’s progress in numeracy or literacy.


ABOUT THE ROLE

The Arbor School seeks experienced individuals for an exciting opportunity within our unique school. The successful applicants will complement and support the delivery of the curriculum and to support students’ learning across a range of subjects and settings, and to lead the learning where appropriate in a classroom under the direction of the class teacher, utilising the school’s extraordinary learning spaces. 

Integrated with the rigorous expectations of the English National Curriculum, the curriculum of the Arbor School is a blend of a knowledge rich curriculum, delivered using constructivist approaches that nurture competencies learners need to care for themselves, for others and for the environment. This includes a critical focus on inquiry and place-based styles learning.

REQUIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• Very Good English language skills

• A recognised and appropriate childcare qualification, e.g., CACHE Level 1, SEND related qualification

• IELTS score at advanced level 6.5 to 8.0 – to be completed within the first six months of employment

• Bachelor’s Degree in education and/or relevant field or LSA qualification is preferred

• Two years’ experience working in a school or similar setting is preferred

• Experience in working with English National Curriculum

• Experience working in an international, premium quality school


REMUNERATION:

Competitive salary and benefits, and end of contract gratuity as per the UAE labour law.
