Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to work with students with either a vision impairment or a physical disability. These students are supported by the Enhanced Resource Base at Saint Benedict Catholic Voluntary Academy, part of the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust.

Ideally, the successful candidates will have had experience of supporting students up to A level age, and in addition, experience of working with students with disabilities, in particular vision impairment or physical disabilities.

Training will be given in how to meet the needs of children with vision impairment or physical disabilities, including the opportunity to learn Braille.

The Enhanced Resource Base is an integral part of the school and the staff support students to access mainstream lessons.

In addition, the successful candidates can be expected to be involved in the delivery of physiotherapy programmes and carrying out personal care tasks.

The role also includes modifying work to make it accessible for students with VI (training will be given) so an ability to use a computer is essential.

This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Closing date: Monday 14th January 2019

Interviews: As soon as possible after the closing date
