Roehampton CAMHS Outreach School is an independent co-educational day school for young people aged 11 to 18 with mental health problems. Our students are all inpatients of the Eating Disorder Unit and CAMHS Unit at The Priory Hospital Roehampton, London. We have a team of specialist teachers and teaching assistants who deliver education to all young people at the hospital, where the school is based.
It is our intention that every student develops their courage, determination and skills as a learner, so they can re-engage confidently with their education on discharge. We liaise with mainstream schools and colleges and each young person has an individualised curriculum plan in each subject area, with progress being closely monitored. Our school offers a broad based academic and enrichment curriculum, with specialist teaching spaces, teaching technologies and substantial grounds around our buildings.
The Learning Support Assistant will be expected to:
- Support the activities of all curriculum areas in the classroom
- Work with individuals and groups to support their learning in Maths and English
- Provide for the general welfare and pastoral care of children
- Be self-motivated and liaise with members of staff throughout the school, working effectively as a member of the team
- Prepare and clear away materials and assist with displays and general classroom organisation
- Provide some administrative support essential to the smooth running of the school
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates from mainstream or specialist education or community provision who are looking to move into a hospital specialist setting.
