Roehampton CAMHS Outreach (PLS)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Learning Support Assistant.  This post is likely to suit an individual with previous experience in a school environment, as either a Teaching Assistant, a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or Teacher wishing to work as an LSA, who is comfortable working in Key Stage 3 and 4.  Experience with Post-16 support is desirable.  Secure knowledge and strong support skills in Maths and English up to GCSE is essential.

Roehampton CAMHS Outreach School is an independent co-educational day school for young people aged 11 to 18 with mental health problems. Our students are all inpatients of the Eating Disorder Unit and CAMHS Unit at The Priory Hospital Roehampton, London.  We have a team of specialist teachers and teaching assistants who deliver education to all young people at the hospital, where the school is based.

It is our intention that every student develops their courage, determination and skills as a learner, so they can re-engage confidently with their education on discharge. We liaise with mainstream schools and colleges and each young person has an individualised curriculum plan in each subject area, with progress being closely monitored.  Our school offers a broad based academic and enrichment curriculum, with specialist teaching spaces, teaching technologies and substantial grounds around our buildings.

The Learning Support Assistant will be expected to:

• Support the activities of all curriculum areas in the classroom
• Work with individuals and groups to support their learning in Maths and English
• Provide for the general welfare and pastoral care of children
• Be self-motivated and liaise with members of staff throughout the school, working effectively as a member of the team
• Prepare and clear away materials and assist with displays and general classroom organisation
• Provide some administrative support essential to the smooth running of the school
