The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Colne Community School and College for a Learning Support Lead responsible for Cognition and Learning to join our SEND Team.

Therefore, we are seeking to recruit a proactive and forward thinking member of staff to enrich the skills and experience already present in our SEND Team. We have a brand new teaching block consisting of 8 new classrooms and 4 specialist Design and Technology rooms fully equipped. A further large scale internal refurbishment will be taking place over the 2022/23 academic year which will further improve our school environment for all.

This post is for a fixed term for up to 5 years and is dependent on the funding available, based on specific student enrolment. This post is 32.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (term time only + 1 non-pupil day) 

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

●       To work with individual students and groups, under the direction of the SENCo, in order to raise achievement for SEND students. 

●       To help students, specifically with needs relating to Cognition and Learning, to access the full curriculum, at the same time promoting independent learning.

●       To contribute to the transition programme for SEND students between primary and secondary.

We're looking for you if you have:

●    GCSE Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent

●    Ability to understand and support children with developmental difficulty or disability

●    ICT skills to support learning
