We are extremely excited to announce that the Trustees are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Learning Support Mentor to join our SEND team.

At Horsforth School we believe in ‘opportunity and achievement for all’ and are committed to the highest outcomes for students and aim to develop the best opportunities for staff.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the implementation of intervention and support programs for students, performing tasks that can range from helping with academic program activities to reinforcing social/behavioural plans, to providing personal care support to the student or parent/carer. Working closely with the SENDCo you will establish positive working relationships with students while encouraging motivation and challenge.

You will also be working with the Deputy SENDCo to staff the Library, recording interventions and accompanying students on school outings as well as supporting with the Inclusion Room as and when required. You will liaise with professionals in the Education Service, Social Services, Youth Offending Team and the Health Service as required.

We are looking for someone who has an empathetic and flexible support style. You will be tenacious, creative and resourceful. Experience of working in an educational setting would be an advantage but is not essential. If you really want to make a difference to the lives of young people, then Horsforth School could be the school for you.

The SEND team’s success is reflected throughout this ambitious and consistently oversubscribed 11-19 school, which enjoys strong community and international links.  Our commitment to excellence in education is recognised nationally.   Ofsted describe us as a ‘good school with outstanding features’.

For our 1400 students, Horsforth School provides an engaging environment of discovery and growth. For our colleagues too, this setting offers some great benefits. Located in north-west Leeds, the school is just five miles from the city centre with its thriving retail, leisure and cultural facilities, yet on the edge of open countryside. York, Harrogate and the Dales are within easy reach.

If you’d like to find out more, please call 0113 226 5454. Or for full details and to download an application form, please visit www.horsforthschool.org or email recruitment@h orsforthschool.org

Closing date: 12 noon on Monday, 20th January 2020

Start date: As soon as possible

We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and we expect all colleagues to share this commitment.  Appointments will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
