Bankside College is an exciting new venture that will be opening near Hanley Castle, Worcester. Working in partnership with the Outcomes First Group and Options Autism, the College will provide a Further Education experience for those aged 16 to 24year-olds with autism, complex needs and learning disabilities. The main aim of the College is to help its students prepare for adulthood and their next stage in life.

In a new purpose-built building, situated in acres of natural beauty, Bankside College will provide a varied, individualised curriculum to enable its students to gain vocational and independence skills to help them achieve their aspirations. Our staff will work together as a cohesive team, to provide the very best experience for the students which will include practical activities, Maths, English and Digital Literacy. The curriculum will have a focus on individual targets, personal skills and enrichment which will include The Duke of Edinburgh Award. Some students will also take part in supported work experience, social enterprise programmes, and volunteering.

As a Learning Support Mentor, you will connect directly with the brilliant children and young people we care for, helping to make sure they get the very best from their education. Each individual has a diagnosis of Autism and may have additional needs. They have so much potential, and they will rely on you to guide their learning journeys bespoke to them.

You will help support the class teacher/tutor in order to ensure the delivery of a high-quality education for all students. You will support the teacher and/or tutor to all education policies and procedures are implemented in full. To support the class teacher and/or tutor in organising the classroom, its resources, student groupings and displays to provide a stimulating learning situation appropriate for students with autistic spectrum disorder.

You will face challenges and overcome them as you flourish and thrive, sharing your skills and learning from others as your career takes you as high as you always dreamed you could go.

Every day will be different, but you will have all the support you need, with lots of skills and experience to draw on along with valuable advice and guidance too.

Who we are looking for

You don’t need any experience to join our team. If you come from hospitality, the army, outdoor activity centres or an office-based job but are eager to help vulnerable children and young people to live happy, fulfilling lives, this is the role for you. We will provide you with full training and development to succeed within your role.

You will be adaptable and ready to work in a variety of classroom roles, both indoors and outside according to individual need. Taking a responsive and caring approach, you may be running classroom activities, leading outdoor experiences or supervising children as they explore further afield.

We are Options Autism, part of Outcomes First Group, certified Great Place to Work for the past 2 years running and leaders within education and care.  For over 16 years we’ve been providing specialist care for adults with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs.

Our Post 16 college will be an independent specialist college, providing day and residential programmes to students aged 18-25 years with autism, complex needs and learning disabilities offering vocational training.  Based in 30 acres of beautiful surroundings, the college will accommodate 30 learners and will have a personalised approach for the students.  The college will be based close to one of our residential services, providing the opportunity to offer a package of support which includes residential education through utilising the available services across the group; thus ensuring the best possible outcomes for each individual.
