The German Swiss International School (GSIS) is one of Hong Kong's leading international schools providing quality, holistic education to a multinational student body of approximately 1250 students and 240 faculty and staff. The school is organised into two Streams, German and English leading to qualifications in the German International Abitur and I/GCSE & IBDP respectively. We are inviting applications from experienced and qualified candidates for the following position to start in January 2023 or as mutually agreed.

 

LEARNING SUPPORT TEACHER (ENGLISH INTERNATIONAL STREAM – SECONDARY SCHOOL)

The successful candidate will work in the Secondary School and collaborate with subject teachers and Heads of Years in developing strategies, implementing personalised learning practices, support and interventions to meet the needs of individual students. She/he will be working directly with individual students and small groups in building approaches to learning ensuring differentiation driven by specific learning needs, create and monitor Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) based on consultation with staff and parents. She/he will liaise with outside agencies when appropriate, arranging assessments, providing feedback to staff. The Learning Support Teacher will work in close collaboration with the Head of Learning Support.

 

What is required and what we’re looking for

·  Demonstrable knowledge of a range of learning challenges including ADHD and executive functioning challenges; experience working with Twice Exceptional students

·  Experience of integrating wellbeing and positive psychology strategies

·  Experience of managing cases and advocating for recommendations on educational assessments

·  Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) in Secondary Education

·  5 years teaching experience preferred

·  Excellent English speaker with sound written and oral communication skills

·  Experience in working collaboratively with a team

·  Culturally sensitive, tolerant and patient

·  Positive work ethic and proactive

·  Experience in an international context is desirable

·  Experience of, or knowledge of, the IB Diploma Programme
