St John’s Walkerston is 14 km inland from the large coastal city of Mackay. Residential development in Walkerston is expanding and demographic projections indicate that this trend will continue. St John’s presently caters for its students in a mix of one and two streams in year level structures, with a future projection of two classes of each grade.

About the role:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and enthusiastic persons for the rewarding position of Learning Support Teacher, commencing 15 January 2023 until 14 January 2024.


St John’s is seeking a vibrant, efficient, and energetic person for the position of Teacher/Learning Support Inclusive Curriculum Teacher. The successful applicant requires excellent people skills, a capacity to work as a part of a team, and the willingness to support students, staff, and parents of the school.

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications.

  • Appropriate qualities, knowledge and skills to provide a relevant and holistic education.

  • Current Queensland College of Teacher Registration 


Under the direction of the Principal and in collaboration with P-6 classroom teachers the Learning Support Teacher will provide intervention support to students, especially those with specific learning needs.  We seek a skillful practitioner with good knowledge of curriculum and a strong understanding of the diverse learning needs of students. The ability to work well with parents and carers in the support of their child will be a requirement of the role.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a deep commitment to providing quality Catholic education and learning based on a personal faith.  You will be a highly trained and qualified professional with significant experience in the provision of high-quality educational programs.  You will have well developed organisational skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to work well in a team, as well as the ability to work autonomously.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and current Queensland College of Teachers Registration
