Learning Support Worker

Farleigh FE College Frome, North Parade, Frome, Somerset, BA11 2AB

Permanent - Full Time, Permanent - Part Time

£16,185 - £16,454 dependent on shift pattern

45 per week (average) term time only

Farleigh Further Education College Frome is an independent specialist residential college for young people aged 16 to 25 with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger's syndrome and associated complex needs including behavioural difficulties.

We are looking for a learning support worker to join our dedicated, enthusiastic team in Frome

The role:

You will support the delivery of education to our students working within the learning centre, external colleges and work placements.

You will provide a high standard of person-centred support and care.

Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with both service users and their families, supporting service users in the planning of goals and in living as independently as possible.

Participation in activities are key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital; experience however is not essential, providing you have a willingness to learn and the compassion and patience needed to support.

You must also be able to demonstrate a high degree of emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

A clean driving licence with at least 3 years driving experience is essential.

It is an expectation of the role that all Learning Support Workers will either work towards or already hold the level 3 Diploma for Children and Young Peoples Workforce.

The Hours:

The hours are 45 per week (average) term time only, part time hours may also be available, and we are happy to consider flexible shift patterns, including days, early/late shifts, and weekends - this can be discussed in more detail at interview.

About Us:

The college has eight residential houses in the community each with its own identity, working ethos and dedicated team of staff. This provides learners with the opportunity to experience independent living in a range of different settings.

We aim to provide every young person with an individually tailored programme of education, care, work experience, leisure and life skills and training within the community, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

Our dedicated team of staff create a safe, secure and independent living environment where our learners have a sense of belonging within their group and a sense of ownership of their home. Our approach enables young people to develop the confidence and skills they need to progress towards adulthood, including further or higher education and sustainable independent living in the community.
