We are seeking outstanding practitioners who can motivate, enthuse and engage learners in Maths and who have a proven track record of helping learners to succeed.

Applicants will be expected to deliver on a range of courses including Level 3 Core Maths, GCSE and Functional Skills. Ability to teach AS/A-Level would be advantageous.

Our aim is to assist students to become independent learners who can meet standards of Maths and are able to utilise these in the world of work. We are committed to ensuring that students reach their full potential and learn in stimulating environment that challenges and motivates, using learning technology effectively to enhance and extend students’ and apprentices’ knowledge and skills. Multi-site delivery will be required as part of the role and so there is regular travel between the different College sites and places of delivery within the Borough.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will:

•Hold excellent Maths qualifications.

•Have a proven track record of impact (We will also consider recent Cert Ed/PGCE graduates).

•Possess outstanding subject knowledge and passion for your subject.

Wigan and Leigh College is a further education college in Wigan, Greater Manchester, which has been providing education and training locally for more than 150 years. It employs around 1,000 staff and has a student roll of about 17,000. Further education students can choose the A-level professional honours programme or vocational qualifications such as BTECs. An expanding higher education portfolio of foundation degrees, top-up degrees, higher nationals and certificates is available to adult students of all ages, both full-time and part-time. 

Wigan and Leigh College operates from several sites across the borough: the Parson’s Walk Centre, School for the Arts and Pagefield Centre are in Wigan, close to the town centre. The Image Centre and Leigh College are close to the town centre of Leigh.
