The Vacancy


Digital Technologies at Newcastle College is entering an exciting and challenging time with growing provision and student numbers. We are looking for a confident and proactive individual to join our busy team.


 We are currently looking for enthusiastic lecturers with experience of teaching the underpinning theory and practical activities related to Computing and Digital Technology programmes. Our digital technologies team provides a practical curriculum at both FE and HE, typically full-time BTEC Diploma programmes at levels 2 and 3, new digital apprenticeship standards up to degree level in addition to FdSc and BSc courses within HE.


You should be able to deliver across a range of outstanding programmes offered by the department, so skill sets / experience could lie within any of the following:


Software development background with skills in object orientated programming and design as well as knowledge of programming languages, potentially such as Java, C#, ASP.Net, Python etc.


A Networking / Hardware background which includes the underpinning theory and practical knowledge, in addition may include any of information security, forensics, data management and cloud computing.


You will be able to develop exciting, dynamic and creative learning experiences for students at various levels. In addition, you will be a strong, professional, positive communicator, who is able, for example, to contribute to positive team building and collaborative work with a range of external stakeholders.


Crucially, you will be passionate about creativity and providing outstanding training and learning for the computing practitioners of tomorrow, as part of a wider Digital Technologies department and with a full understanding of the fast pace and vital importance of developing digital skills. Experience of engagement with external groups, the development of commercial and/or co-curricular activities would also be desirable.


We would welcome applications from experienced Lecturers but would also be able to support those looking to begin a career in Further Education to achieve a qualification in teaching with our established Lecturer program.
