This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team of highly committed and experienced ‘A’ level teachers who have a proven track record of success. The post of Lecturer in ‘A’ level Maths is offered within the Sixth Form at Wakefield College, situated in the newly refurbished City Campus close to the historic city centre of Wakefield. As a member of the Sixth Form, you would be joining a team of professional, dedicated and enthusiastic teachers in a positive and supportive environment where staff enjoy a good sense of camaraderie and have high expectations of themselves and their students.

We are looking for an outstanding teacher of A level Maths to teach and coordinate the AS and A level Maths and Further Maths classes.

Graduate Trainee applications are welcome.

Wakefield Sixth Form has a strong academic ethos; working towards excellence for our students and helping each individual to achieve their full potential. We are looking for a professional who is passionate about teaching and learning to inspire our young mathematicians and help them achieve their goals.

All full-time students in the Sixth Form have a personal tutor who offers support and guidance throughout the programme and is responsible for monitoring the overall progress of their tutees. As a member of the A level team you would be a personal tutor to a group of about 20 students.

Wakefield College will support your professional development through our Programme of Excellence, therefore a teaching qualification is not an essential requirement of this role.

The Wakefield District
Wakefield offers a rare combination of heritage, countryside, entertainment, culture, shopping and sport. Whatever your interests, we hope you will want to explore the District and its many amenities.

For art lovers, there is the City Art Gallery and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, one of the world’s leading open-air galleries where a changing programme of international sculpture can be seen in the setting of a magnificent country park. Recent improvements to the Park include an underground gallery, visitor centre, shop and large restaurant - all the ingredients for a great day out. In 2011 the Hepworth gallery opened on Wakefield’s regenerated waterfront and presents a major collection of twentieth-century British artworks, with a collection of sculptures by locally-born Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore as its centrepiece.
