Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you have experience in graphic and digital design? We are looking for a Full Time Lecturer – Digital Design to join the Digital Arts Section within Newcastle College University Centre, based at our Ryehill  Campus.


Ideally, you should have experience of a creative approach to designing and delivering higher education curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in subject specific and interdisciplinary contexts. This role requires a versatile approach and ability to contribute to a vibrant and collaborative team that spans a wide range of digital arts disciplines, encompassing both academic and industry professionals.


Your skillset will include creative digital design processes and their application in industry as well as leading edge digital design tools and methods. You will be able to design, produce and deliver across a range of digital platforms with experience of graphic design, visual identity and branding, motion graphics and data visualisation. You will have significant and relevant work experience in a client facing environment across a broad range of design mediums. You will need to be able to demonstrate that you are an innovator with excellent skills in graphic design, motion graphics, video production including green screen, audio production, digital documents, interactive HTML-based content (H5P), HTML and CSS within VLEs. You will focus on progressive digital application, UX/UI, web design, motion graphic design, and expanded digital interaction, and should have experience in these areas.


You will be expected to have expert skills and knowledge of the relevant Adobe Creative Cloud applications.


You will need to demonstrate self-confidence and excellent communications skills, which will include the ability to communicate effectively across a broad spectrum of individuals, managerial levels and international cultures together with well-honed design and presentation skills, and the ability to deliver online and remotely both synchronously and asynchronously.


 


You will be delivering on the brand-new Higher Degree Apprenticeship and following the purpose made standard that will cover the following industry occupational duties:


Duty 1 Create impactful and eye-catching creative designs related to digital art, digital graphic design, video, online services and installations.


Duty 2 Apply creativity to all creative digital development projects, including non-screen-based media.


Duty 3 Develop and deliver compelling digitally enabled creative design solutions to internal and/or external clients across a range of sectors inline with brand guidelines, for a range of different contexts and environments, including agile.


Duty 4 Create prototypes of design concepts and communicate these through pitches and presentations to gain agreement to develop these into final designs.


Duty 5 Create digital design solutions for a broad range of media including online services, installations and contribute to strategy around creative direction.


Duty 6 Interpret client briefs to create and deliver powerful ideas, ensuring that accessibility requirements are incorporated, using market research and UX input to inform creative decision making.


Duty 7 Lead and manage end to end creative design projects, adopting the organisational approach to design project governance.


Duty 8 Lead the communication of design concepts, including with brand managers, product leads, marketing directors, commercial, and sales.


Duty 9 Recognise the opportunities for complex and compelling data stories to be presented through creative digital channels.


Duty 10 Keep up with both current and future media and technology developments and current technological requirements such as 3D space, immersive technologies and artificial intelligence.
