Job overview

Truro

We are one of the highest performing colleges nationally on all courses at all levels, rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’.

We are looking for an inspirational and committed lecturer with the ability to enthuse students and maintain excellent working relationships in a highly successful department. A willingness to support students pastorally is essential, as is being adaptable and flexible in a dynamic working environment.

We are looking for someone who works with confidence with a variety of ability levels, who is a committed team member / leader and is passionate about their subject. The successful applicant will be expected to provide high quality teaching on education programmes, and to contribute to providing an outstanding learning experience for our students.

The candidate will have a successful track record particularly in the delivery of economics / business courses, however, the ability to offer flexibility across courses within the department is very important. Applicants should hold a degree or similar professional qualifications and a recognised teaching qualification. As well as teaching, the successful candidate will also have responsibility for a tutor group.

The department delivers a range of business-related courses: A-Level Accounting, Business Studies, Economics and Law, OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in Business, BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel & Tourism, BTEC Level 2 Business / Travel & Tourism and FdA Business, FdSc / LLB Law, BA(Hons) Business, Enterprise & Leadership.

There is potential consideration for a Deputy Team Leader role within the department which will involve specific curriculum responsibilities and coordinating academic and pastoral support across the Programme Area. The Deputy Team Leader should have a strong commitment to the importance of quality assurance procedures; have good organisational and communication skills and be committed to delivering excellent pastoral support. Previous applicants will be carried forward.

Applicants should be well qualified in the subject area and ideally have a relevant teaching qualification although there may be opportunities for those wishing to move into teaching as a change in career direction. If you are not a qualified teacher already this should not deter you from applying. For example, if you are an experienced industry professional, looking for a career change, then funding may be available to support teacher training.

We offer a generous package with benefits including 40 days annual leave plus bank holidays and College closure days, teacher pension scheme, relocation package, free on-site parking and a variety of on-site benefits and discounts.

Curriculum Vitae are not accepted, Application Forms only.

Closing date: 12pm, Friday 27 May 2022

Interviews: Tuesday 7 June 2022

Successful candidates will be notified within 4 weeks of the closing date.

Truro and Penwith College is an Equal Opportunities Employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants must be willing to undergo a Criminal Record (DBS) check and past employment checks.
