Salary:   £24,022 - £32,318 per annum (pro rata)
Hours:  31.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum
£20,451 - £27,513 for the hours stated above

About the role

We are looking for a Lecturer in Performing Arts (Drama) to join our Creative Studies team

As a Lecturer in Performing Arts, you will work as a member of a team to deliver a co-ordinated, integrated learning programme ensuring that learners receive a high quality learning experience and achieve success.

You will teach Drama to Level 2 and 3 students of all abilities and ages by preparing and delivering lectures and other associated learning materials in a professional and competent manner.  You will also prepare Lesson Plans and Schemes of Work as required.

You will need to have a Degree or professional training in Drama and also a Teaching Qualification, e.g. DTTLS, PGCE, Certificate of Education or equivalent, or the desire to achieve. You should have experience in the provision of operational & teaching support for students within a Performing Arts environment, along with  and excellent organisational skills and ability to adhere to strict deadlines. Level 2 English and Maths is required.

As well as offering excellent training facilities, the College will support you with a reduced teaching commitment in your first year, generous annual leave entitlement, access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. On top of this, the College offers financial support when you complete Initial Teacher Training course via West Kent and Ashford College. You will receive £600 at the end of your first year of employment at the College as a fully qualified teacher and £750 at the end of the second year of employment.

About West Kent and Ashford College

West Kent College is a mixed, non-denominational further and higher education college in Kent, serving students from the age of 16 and above. The college has campuses in Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.

West Kent College was founded in 2014 after K College’s six campuses were split into two units. The Tonbridge and Tumbridge Wells sites and the two sites in Ashford were taken over by the Hadlow College Group – making two campuses West Kent College and Ashford College. A third campus, East Kent College, has taken over the Folkestone and Dover sites. West Kent College offers courses at GCSE level to Degree programmes, which are validated by the University of Kent, University of Greenwich and Cantebury Christ Church University.
