Central Saint Michael’s Sixth Form College is changing the face of A Level provision in Sandwell. Since opening in September 2012, the sixth form has grown to over 500 AS, A Level and Diploma students. We are based in a unique dedicated sixth form in art centre formally known as ‘The Public’ in the middle of West Bromwich. This means Central Sixth is an exciting place to work and develop your career.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well qualified and dedicated Lecturer in Sociology and Criminology to teach AS/A Level Sociology and Criminology. As part of this role you could also be expected to provide pastoral support to one or more tutor groups. The successful candidate would be expected to commence employment at their earliest convenience (ideally before January 2021).


You will contribute to the development and delivery of our academic provision in Sociology and Criminology and related disciplines including associated academic operational responsibilities to ensure an excellent student experience.


This is a great opportunity to really make a difference at Central Saint Michael’s to enhance the quality of teaching provision and programme development, whilst drawing on leading practices from further education and other sectors. Your excellent communications skills and knowledge will engage and motivate our students to achieve their full potential.


 An academic background in Sociology and Criminology is preferred along with a recognised teaching qualification, (L5 or above). We will also consider someone who is willing to work towards obtaining this qualification. We are looking for an individual who not only has a great theoretical understanding of Sociology and Criminology and its practices but also a willingness to share knowledge and expertise with our students to inspire them for future career development.
