Job overview

School of Education
Ref: EE3048-17-134

Located in a recently built facility at our Falmer site, just five miles from Brighton’s stunning sea front and vibrant city centre, the School of Education is one of the largest providers of education and training for student teachers, teachers and other professionals in the Higher Education sector.

With our forward facing approach we enjoy a regional, national and international reputation for the quality of our provision. Promoting new developments to ensure that we remain innovative, and embracing the principles of fair access, we are consistently successful in meeting new market demands and government initiatives at both a local and national level. Programmes within the school focus predominantly on Education, Learning and Development.

You will be joining a successful and dynamic subject team who, through a continued commitment to research and teaching excellence, strive to maximise students’ potential as future teachers of their subject. We are therefore seeking to appoint a highly motivated, innovative and effective practitioner who is keen to promote their subject across the school and beyond. You should be able to demonstrate a passion for teaching and students’ learning, and be able to offer a clear rationale for your pedagogy.

You will possess a good (1 or 2:1) undergraduate degree preferably in a mathematics related subject area, and ideally hold a relevant postgraduate qualification (PGCert/EYITT/PGCE/MA/PhD), an equivalent level of professional experience or evidence of a commitment to obtaining a relevant higher degree/professional qualification

We offer a wide range of employee benefits including a generous relocation and pension scheme, childcare vouchers and travel loans as well as supporting flexible working opportunities including applications from job sharers.

The nature of the role means that successful candidates will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check (further information can be found on the job description).

Job sharers welcome.

Closing date: Tuesday 2 May 2017.
Interviews are likely to be held on 16/17 May 2017.
