Job overview

School of Education

The School of Education is a high-achieving, ambitious and dynamic community offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications. We are dedicated to providing high quality teaching and learning opportunities and devoted to addressing educational inequality. Our primary and secondary Initial Teacher Education courses are rated ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted 2015) and our portfolio continues to grow. We would like to recruit a new colleague to enhance our excellent Primary ITE team and to increase our teaching and research capacity. The appointee will be aligned with an appropriate curriculum subject area depending on previous experience and professional expertise.

The successful candidate will be an experienced primary educator who is up-to-date on the current policy context for initial teacher education and who brings knowledge of both the primary curriculum and effective pedagogical practice. They will have enhanced subject expertise in at least one area of the primary National Curriculum and will be keen to work with both training teachers and qualified colleagues undertaking CPD. Ideally applicants will be experienced in evidence-based practice, the assessment of children’s learning and creative approaches to planning and teaching. Experience of leading a primary subject and taking responsibility for the development of enhanced knowledge and skills is highly desirable.

This post would be particularly suitable for a currently serving primary teacher or an education academic who is seeking to develop their profile in research-informed teaching and keen to engage with professional development opportunities.
