Catholic Education, Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn (CE) plays an integral role in education both in the ACT and NSW, operating 56 Schools and 8 Early Learning Centres, with over 21,000 students and employing over 2,100 professionals.
The purpose of the Legal Officer is to support the General Counsel in the provision of high quality professional legal services to assist the CECG to exercise its functions in a lawful and accountable manner. The successful applicant will deliver expert, accurate and timely advice or briefings on complex or sensitive legal matters. To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to provide legal support and assistance to the General Counsel in defending contested matters in external courts and tribunals.
You will, in consultation with the General Counsel, provide advice and guidance at an operational level with respect to complaints, investigations, commercial arrangements, engagement with regulators and other school-based or office-based issues.
This position involves working with children. The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with CEO policy.
