Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Level 1 Nursery Teaching Assistant who has the passion and commitment to support students from all backgrounds at Bluecoat Primary Academy.

The post-holder will have the drive and ability to support students to improve outcomes, particularly for students with additional needs. We also ask that the successful candidate to be able to work well as a member of a team and follow our policies and procedures regarding our expectation for our EYFS environment, provide high standards of care and early education as a Nursery Teaching Assistant through high quality interactions, be flexible in working with a range children with different needs, be confident in communicating effectively and professionally within a team and when carrying out high quality interactions with young children, have a good working knowledge of the EYFS, planning and assessment systems and take an active role ensuring the Safeguarding and Health and Safety of all the children and staff they work with.

The successful candidate will also be able to provide support to teaching staff within classrooms by ensuring the environment in which the children learn in is effectively set out each day, full of awe and wonder and follows the children’s interests. The post holders may also be required to work 1:1 with individual students or small groups of students. It is also essential that the candidate has a Level 3 Qualification or above that is within the subject area of education or childcare.

Bluecoat Primary Academy has been growing from just two classes in 2015 through to it's final stage of growth in September 2021 now with 446 primary pupils (60 per year group) in addition to a 26 place Nursery and a small Focus Provision for pupils with ASD. It has a strong set of values that are at the heart of its work and there is a clear vision for the future.

The children we serve at Bluecoat are from very diverse backgrounds and so our approach needs to be flexible, understanding and adaptive whilst staying true to our strong Christian ethos and maintaining focus on our core values. We offer a nurturing environment to our pupils as well as our staff. Staff wellbeing is important at our school and within our Trust. We utilise a range of strategies to ensure children and adults alike are able to thrive.

Archway Learning Trust, previously Bluecoat Academies Trust, was formed in April 2014 as a result of the very long and successful history of Bluecoat Academy. We welcomed three further secondary schools in Derby to the Trust in 2021 and opened Bluecoat Trent Academy, a secondary Free School in Nottingham, in September 2021.

The Trust comprises Bluecoat Aspley Academy, Bluecoat Sixth Form, Bluecoat Wollaton Academy, Bluecoat Beechdale Academy, Bluecoat Primary Academy, The Nottingham Emmanuel School and Sixth Form, The Long Eaton School, Lees Brook Community School, Alvaston Moor Academy and the Bluecoat SCITT Alliance (School Centred Initial Teacher Training).
