Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a passionate candidate who can fulfil the role of Level 2 Teaching Assistant at Archway Learning Trust. Level 2 Teaching Assistants have a leadership and small-group teaching role within the Learning Support Base. These roles are dependent on levels of experience and expertise. However, Level 2 TAs will take on the role of supporting a team of Level 1 TAs. Level 2 TAs are role models for other staff who are developing their Level 1 TA roles and will liaise closely with Pastoral Leads, Curriculum Leads and external agencies where appropriate.

Level 2 TAs work closely with both the SENCo and Deputy SENCo. This is a rewarding role and opportunity for the right candidate, with the flexibility of creating a post that will match existing experience and skills. If you would like the job satisfaction of being part of a passionate and committed team genuinely making a difference to students’ lives, then we would love to hear from you.

The successful candidate will be committed to the students and academy life and will possess the ability to communicate effectively and raise the standards of learning for all of the students with whom they are required to work.

Archway Learning Trust, previously Bluecoat Academies Trust, was formed in April 2014 as a result of the very long and successful history of Bluecoat Academy. We recently welcomed three further secondary schools in Derby to the Trust and opened Bluecoat Trent Academy, a secondary free school in Nottingham, in September 2021.

The Trust comprises Bluecoat Aspley Academy, Bluecoat Sixth Form, Bluecoat Wollaton Academy, Bluecoat Beechdale Academy, Bluecoat Primary Academy, Bluecoat Bentinck Primary Academy, The Nottingham Emmanuel School and Sixth Form, The Long Eaton School, Lees Brook Academy, Alvaston Moor Academy and the Bluecoat SCITT Alliance (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training).

The growth and development of our Multi-Academy Trust make this an excellent opportunity to join us as we seek to serve a growing number of young people across the region.

In return, we can offer:

  • Archway benefits, to include shopping discounts and competitions

  • A free and confidential employee assistance programme offering counselling and advice

  • Generous pension schemes

  • Access to discounted travel schemes

  • Cycle-to-work scheme

  • Comprehensive training and support

  • Opportunities to develop new skills and progress your career

  • Eye care voucher scheme

  • Free flu vaccine

  • Access to e-learning and development

Bluecoat Beechdale Academy is a highly inclusive school, serving a diverse community, with some of the highest levels of deprivation in the country. We believe that education is the key to improving the social mobility of the area and have high expectations for students’ in order to support them to take the next steps in education. Therefore, we offer a suite of traditional GCSE qualifications, as well as several vocational courses. For many students, the practical elements of these courses allow them to increase their employability and offer real life experiences, giving a sense of what life is like in industry. Links with careers are explicit within all subject areas that raise aspirations for a life of employment.

At Bluecoat Beechdale, we believe that all students have the right to feel safe, the right to be happy and the right to learn. Our students are able to achieve this through the support of a highly effective pastoral team who encourage students to feel that they belong to the school community, they believe in themselves to show the best version of themselves so they can achieve the very best possible outcomes, both academically and in their personal development.

We are extremely proud of the journey school is on. Since joining Archway Learning Trust in 2014, the trajectory of improvement has been consistent and substantial, with Ofsted recognising this progress in 2017, when they judged the school to be ‘Good’.
