Location: Meldreth, Nr. Royston, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border

Salary: £11.55 - £12 per hour (linked to competency and qualifications) PLUS £1000 Welcome bonus

Annual Salary: £24,024 - £24,960 per year for a 40 hour week 

Hours: 4 week rota pattern – Ave 40 hrs per week.

Where possible we will also consider flexible shift patterns to suit you (PT hours also available)

Rated CQC Outstanding Aurora Orchard Manor are seeking compassionate and dedicated people to become Support Workers for our young people on a full or part time basis.

Set within 14 acres, Orchard Manor offers a supportive living and learning environment for young adults with severe and profound learning difficulties and complex health needs. With specialist facilities and a focus on promoting independence, we support each of our young people through the transition from education into adulthood with a focus on person-centred programmes to promote independence.

The Role:

As a support worker you will be highly involved in personal care, this is supporting our young people with all aspects of personal hygiene including toileting, dressing and maintain their personal appearance.

As well as supporting with their medical needs you will also get involved in helping with the young adults therapies such as rebound therapy or hydrotherapy in our newly renovated pool. We also have sensory gardens, a skills centre, forestry school and rooms dedicated to art, music and much more.

Independence is prompted wherever is possible, the adults will often run their own days with what they like to do, so you could be helping make things in the sites enterprise scheme, going on shopping trips, taking part in forestry lessons or even going to the pub!!

It is a tough yet totally rewarding role. Ultimately, we are looking for people with a passion to build relationships and positively change the lives of the children and young adults that we work with. What’s important to us is that you can demonstrate the right attitude to make a difference

Essential Qualification:

  • Level 3 Health & Social Care

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

  • Experience and knowledge of working with young adults with complex needs and additional behaviours
  • Superb communication skills and patience
  • Highly organised
  • Resilient with a robust and positive nature
  • Ability to work on a rota pattern- please note that this will typically mean working every other weekend
