About Kazakhstan International School (KIS)
Kazakhstan International School is a growing school with big ideas! Located in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s beautiful former capital, KIS is an International Baccalaureate World School with around 400 students and 50 teachers from over 30 countries. Our aim is to fully prepare the children of our multicultural community for the challenges of the fast-changing world in which we live, and to play their part in making the world a better place for everyone.
KIS is authorized to deliver the IB PYP and MYP, and we are seeking authorization to deliver the IB Diploma from August 2020. Our attractive, modern new campus opened in December 2018, and we celebrated our 20th anniversary in April 2019. After rapid expansion over the past two years, the school has now entered a phase of consolidation and development.
As part of our growth as a teaching and learning community, we are seeking a whole-school librarian with experience of developing secondary school libraries, and in-depth knowledge and understanding of the IB, in particular the Diploma Programme. You should be committed to the ideals shared by KIS and the IB, excited by inquiry-based and student-centred education, and eager to seize the opportunities (and accept the challenges) of living in one of the world’s biggest yet least-known countries. Adaptability, open-mindedness, and a sense of humour are key qualities. Knowledge and experience of the IB is essential, as is the ability to establish positive working relationships with students, colleagues and parents from around the world. Please see the job description for full details.
Early applications are recommended, as we may appoint ahead of the closing date if we find an outstanding candidate.
KIS is committed to the safety and well-being of its students. Applicants for this post must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including reference checks with previous employers, providing police clearances from previous countries of employment, and a DBS check or its equivalent.
