Kent College Dubai

Kent College Dubai (KCD) opened its doors in August 2016, and in a very short space of time has established itself as a successful community-centred school that is inclusive and aspiring. The school takes pupils from ages 3-18, and is located in the Nad al Sheba district of Dubai. We are closely tied to our sister school Kent College Canterbury in many ways, and our mission is to re-vision the same quality of education – pastoral and extra-curricular as much as academic – that the UK school provides.

We set much store by the attributes of our own Learner Profile, through which our pupils aspire to key qualities and values that will help them deal with the challenges of the lives that lie ahead of them. Teamworking, problem solving and independent thinking are given a high status in school life, in order to build pupils’ self-confidence and leadership skills. Our competitive House system underpins many school activities and events and gives pupils an additional sense of identity and loyalty.

We offer a full range of GCSE and A-level subjects and our pupils have already achieved very impressive early-entry GCSE results (84% A*-A).

At Kent College we follow the British national curriculum, through to GCSE and A-level. As is offered at our sister school at Canterbury, we intend to adopt the IB Diploma programme in addition to A-levels as early as practical. Arabic and Moral Education are also core subjects in the curriculum across the age range, and we place a very high priority on the extra-curricular programme that complements the academic curriculum.

The school is located next to the Meydan South housing development, and as a result we probably have the highest proportion of pupils in Dubai who walk or cycle to school. We have a reputation as a family-focused school that cares about its community, and we and our Parents and Friends Association put on regular events to include the wider community.

The library

The school has separate libraries in the Junior and Senior schools, with a separate librarian responsible for each one. The senior school library is on two floors; the upper floor is a study area with individual seminar rooms, and the main book stock and further seminar rooms are on the ground floor. Departments use the library as a resource centre for teaching, and the English department makes full use of it for its reading programme.

The role

Candidates should possess an appropriate Library/Information Management Degree and ideally have existing experience of working in a school environment. They must be able to create a welcoming environment that encourages pupils to want to learn and read, and any additional experience in education such as careers, counselling, learning support or similar areas would be an advantage.

Please be aware that this job is only available to candidates already resident in Dubai.
