We are seeking to appoint a Library Assistant to work in the prestigious Chatfeild-Roberts Library at Cheltenham College during term time and to take on duties in the Archives Department during term time and also during College holiday periods. There is potential for involvement in other aspects of College life.
This is a 52 week, year-round post based on 37.5 hours per week during term time with flexible hours offered during College holiday periods to be agreed with the Line Manager. Salary circa £16-18k per annum dependent upon experience.
Hours of work are likely be 1pm to 9pm, Monday to Friday, and split between the two locations during term time, with the emphasis more on Archive work during the holidays. During term time, Archives work generally takes place during the earlier part of the afternoon and Library work during the later afternoon and evening.
The Library Assistant is responsible to the College Librarian and will assist in the efficient organisation, management and administration of the Library, as well as in the promotion and provision of its services and resources. The Library Assistant supervises students working in the Library during evening hours, liaising with resident staff as required.
Archive duties will include sorting and accessioning records, answering enquiries from the public, researching, preparing and overseeing internal exhibitions.
Applicants should be self-motivated with good IT skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students of 13-18 years of age and with adults.
