Job overview

Loughborough College is seeking a new library assistant to join the well-established team at the college library.

You will carry out a variety of tasks which help to maintain and run the library on a day to day basis. This includes, but is not limited to, shelving stock, issuing and returning books to staff and students, and helping to ensure that the library is a suitable environment for study.

We are looking for a flexible and enthusiastic individual, with an interest in library work and in supporting young people to become successful and independent learners. Previous library experience would be advantageous, but is not a prerequisite for the role as all necessary training will be provided. The ideal candidate will have experience in face-to-face customer services or business support, and have a strong interest or experience in supporting and challenging young adults. The role will also involve supporting staff and students in accessing resources and equipment, potentially for the first time, and as such, confidence in basic IT skills is essential.

If you are looking for an interesting and diverse role, in helping our students to get the most out of the library services we offer, and in preparing them for work and higher education, then we look forward to your application.

The closing date for applications will be 23rd January 2018.
