2.5 days per week: 8.00am – 5.30pm 2 days and 8.00am – 1.00pm

2.5 days per week: 8.00am – 5.30pm 2 days and 12.30pm – 5.30pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated part or full time Library Assistant to join us in our busy library at King Edward VI School. The main duties are to assist the Library Manager in promoting and developing the school library in order to provide an efficient service to pupils and staff. The library was refurbished and extended last summer and is now at the heart of the school; a busy, vibrant facility that is well used by the school community, supporting both teaching and learning activities.

We are looking for an organised individual with excellent oral and written communication skills. You will have excellent customer service skills and be patient and calm under pressure. Experience of working in a library or in a school or education environment would be an advantage but is not essential. The key requirements are an ability to empathise and relate positively to young people and a genuine interest in supporting them to succeed.

King Edward VI School is a leading HMC Independent day school for children aged 11 – 18. King Edward’s is a school with a long and distinguished history and it has been at the heart of Southampton for over 460 years. The School has occupied 4 different sites, relocating to the purpose built site on Hill Lane in 1938. It became fully independent in 1979 and co-educational in 1994.
