Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a creative and innovative thinker to our teaching team who can support the Subject Leader PSHCE & Citizenship to create an innovative and purposeful Life Skills curriculum. We are seeking a teacher who can help us generate the capacity for change and development in Teaching and Learning; with responsibility for co-ordinating the Life Skills curriculum. The person appointed should have the ability to work with the Subject Leader to support in leading and inspiring an excellent team of teachers and teaching assistants in further developing effective classroom practice. It is clear that the successful candidate will have to be an effective classroom practitioner themselves. The post will include teaching life skills which will incorporate social skills development, skills for life, basic home cooking skills, first aid and travel training. There will be a requirement to plan and lead external visits to support life experiences and develop travel confidence.   

This vacancy results from a restructuring of the whole academy curriculum to create a greater focus on key life skills needed for transition within and beyond the academy. The successful candidate should have a clear understanding about effective quality first teaching, raising and sustaining achievement, special educational needs provision and the life skills curriculum. They should be a good communicator and should be able to engage effectively with children and young adults on a daily basis. They will be working closely with the Subject Leader: PSHCE & Citizenship, Zonal Assistant Principals and the other members of the Middle Leadership Team.
