Lower and upper primary school teacher

Teaching across the curriculum but expertise in the teaching of literacy and numeracy is vital for all applicants.

The School

The Ela Murray International School (TEMIS) has a long history dating from 1911 with a reputation for quality education. TEMIS strives for excellence in the development of all facets of young people to enable them to contribute effectively to their culture and to their communities. Education at TEMIS results in students who can follow their dreams.

The school currently operates on two sites: The Ela Beach site offering Early Learning programs for ages 2 to 4 and the Murray site with elementary and middle school grades from Prep through to Grade Eight. 

The students attending TEMIS come from a variety of backgrounds and a total of 34 nationalities are represented.  The student body is made up of 70% expatriate students and 30% PNG nationals. The current roll is 520. The teaching staff is around 60% expatriate and 40% Papua New Guinean.

The school follows the IEA curriculum - an outcomes based curriculum reflecting current international best practice and which can be viewed at www.ieacpd.net . The Employer

The International Education Agency is the oldest and largest private education provider in Papua New Guinea. It is a non-profit company responsible for the management of nineteen schools and a large vocational college throughout the country. Each school is overseen by a Board of Governors elected by the parents. Schools are managed by Principals who are each responsible to the Director of Education.

In addition to managing schools, the IEA provides comprehensive professional support to Principals and teachers in the areas of pedagogy and curriculum through its Centre for Professional Development.

IEA schools in Papua New Guinea educate over 5000 overseas and citizen pupils and employ around 300 teachers, the majority of whom are Papua New Guineans.

About The Ela Murray International School

The Ela Murray International School (TEMIS) is a non-profit, private, co-educational day school. TEMIS is owned and operated by the IEA – the International Education Agency of Papua New Guinea (https://protect-eu.mimecast.com/s/REGVBtKYNdFQ?domain=ieapng.net). The governance of the school rests with a Board composed of parents and professional staff.

The student body ranges from 18 months in our Early Learning Centre to Grade 8. Our staff and students come from many countries which contributes to the international flavor of the school.
