About The City of London Primary Academy, Islington

The City of London Primary Academy Islington (COLPAI) is a brand-new school opening in September 2017, offering 60 Reception places. The school will grow, year on year, to reach its full complement of 420 pupils by 2024. For the first two years, COLPAI will be housed within its own designated area of the new Moreland Primary School building while our own state of the art school is built nearby. Our temporary site, complete with a sky garden and two small outside terraces offers a world class learning environment, enabling us to provide an exceptional education from day one. Once on our permanent site on Golden Lane ECI, there are plans to expand EYFS provision to include a nursery and two-year-old places. COLPAI will be a non-selective, fully inclusive school and pupils will be drawn from and reflect the local community. Except for looked after children, pupils with SEND and siblings, admissions will be by distance.

City of London Primary Academy Islington is sponsored by the City of London and is partnered with the City of London School for Girls, an ISI Outstanding rated independent school. Our new school will become part of the highly successful family of City schools and we will work collegiately with our colleagues sharing and disseminating excellent practice. Already the UK’s highest performing Trust for pupil progress, we are driven by ambition to enable every child to be the best they can be. In ethos and function, COLPAI will be modelled on the ‘City way’ so that we quickly establish COLPAI as an exceptional school making lasting and fundamental differences to the lives of our children.

Our provision is based upon the five values of Respect, Excellence, Aspiration, Team work and Creativity. Our curriculum offers a strong and structured core to ensure excellence in reading, writing and mathematics. It is set within a broad, balanced and creative curriculum which nurtures the whole child, excellent behaviours for learning and good personal skills. Located on the doorstep of the City, with an abundance of arts and cultural venues, COLPAI will forge strong partnerships and fully exploit these rich resources to deliver a creative yet challenging curriculum that ignites curious minds.
