37hrs per week Monday to Friday - Flexible working pattern (some split shifts & weekend working)

St Mary's School, in Horam, is part of the SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, and we are seeking to recruit a Maintenance Caretaker, to provide a responsive caretaking and maintenance service, while supervising cleaning staff, to ensure high standards of caretaking/cleaning throughout the school site, providing a clean and safe environment for users of the school buildings, fleet and grounds.

The ideal candidate will be expected to undertake both regular maintenance and routine cleaning duties associated with this role and have the ability to deal with unexpected problems that may arise. Previous DIY experience and decorating skills would be an advantage. This post requires a good degree of physically fitness, as some grounds maintenance and general maintenance tasks are involved.

It would be a strong advantage is the successful candidate has experience of working in a school environment, as well as knowledge of maintaining records and IT. They must be able to work effectively and supportively as a member of the school team. Applicants should have a willingness to participate in further training and development opportunities offered by the school to further knowledge. They will also need the ability to work effectively within an environment where pupils may display challenging behaviour.

This is a full time position, at 37 hours per week, during term time; you will be expected to work during the school holidays, with your hours and annual leave to be agreed by the Principal. This role may also require working in various buildings or school sites and therefore, the ideal candidate will need to have a degree of flexibility in their working hours and schedule, as well as the advantage of holding a full driving licence.
