Founded in 1646, Reading Blue Coat School is a leading independent day school with 750 pupils, boys aged 11 – 18, and a co-educational Sixth Form. Set in a beautiful country estate of 46 acres of sport fields, grounds and woodlands overlooking the River Thames in the village of Sonning, just outside Reading, we provide a wonderful working environment. We employ 180 staff working in 30 buildings across the campus.

Reporting to the Bursar, we have an opportunity for a talented and technically strong maintenance professional with the desire, ability and experience to manage the school Maintenance activities, including site development, project work and operational support. You will lead a small in-house team of technicians together with a variety of expert contractors.

The School continues to invest significantly in its facilities and infrastructure, with an ambitious development programme, including planning permission for a new Grounds, Maintenance and Activities Centre and a Performing Arts Centre.

The Maintenance Manager will lead as well as providing “hands on” technical skills. You must live within easy reach of the School to attend to emergencies. You will already have significant management or supervisory experience; be able to maintain continuity of services; and likely to have experience in the construction or facilities management and maintenance sectors.
